Actress and journalist Athanasia Singelakis has passed away.

Athanasia Syngelaki was born in Thessaloniki in 1932. He grew up in Athens. He studied acting at the Carolos Kohn Art Theatre – from which he graduated as a distinguished talent – and directing and journalism at the Pro Deo University of Social Studies in Rome.

In her career she worked in theatre, among others in the troupes Alexandraki, Vandi, Vergis and Ethnikos and participated in dozens of radio projects for the EIR and the “Enzameni” station. Shortly after the proclamation of the military dictatorship, as an enemy of the military junta, he returned to Italy shortly before his arrest. In Rome he collaborated with RAI in its international radio programmes and in several television plays.

Her son is the journalist Theodoros Andreadis Syngelakis. She taught him Greek, so that he could practice journalism as a social function, and so that he would remember that what remains of our passage through life is only our human contribution.

Athanasia Syngelakis’ funeral will be held, according to her wishes, in the First Cemetery of Athens.
