An elderly woman asked for a divorce from her 37-year-old husband

A retired woman who recently separated from her husband has claimed she dumped her much younger lover because he was “selfish and just wanted to take her money”. Iris Jones, 83, married Egyptian Mohamed Ibrahim, 37, after meeting on Facebook in 2019.

The couple fell in love despite the huge age difference (he is 46 years younger than her). She added that the elderly woman decided to marry him the following year sun.

However, their fairytale union reportedly fell apart after the 83-year-old made a lengthy Facebook post claiming he had asked her for money during their four-year relationship – despite a British embassy official urging her “not to give him money”.

On her first visit to Egypt to see Ibrahim, Jones allegedly gave him $18,826.50 in cash.

In November 2021, Ibrahim obtained a spousal visa and was able to travel to the UK where he was allowed to stay for two years, pending a review in two months. He then took about $50,204 from her, leaving the woman in dire financial straits.
