On Monday, millions of people around the world will have the opportunity to watch the planetary alignment of six of the planets of our planetary system. More specifically, Mercury, Ares, Jupiter, Saturn, Neptune, and Uranus will all participate in the planetary parade, because they will be on the same side of the Sun.
The planets will be visible early in the morning at sunrise and will be fairly low in the east, which means the alignment will require some non-special equipment to see them fully, namely a good pair of binoculars.
Some planets may be visible to the naked eye, although light scattering may cause some additional difficulties. According to experts, it will be easier to see Mars and Saturn, and this means that it will be possible to observe them earlier than other planets and at a slightly higher altitude in the sky.
The planets will appear in a diagonal order in the sky, with Saturn at the top, followed by Neptune, then Mars, Uranus, and Mercury. Jupiter will appear closer to the horizon.
The alignment is expected to last a few days, with the same planets said to align – albeit in a different order – in August and January 2025. Seven additional planets will align in February next year.
