Andie MacDowell has put her “fairy tale” mansion on sale in Los Angeles for $3,999,000. The actress, who broke into cinema with dynamism, decided to sell her palace after two years of ownership.
The impressive terraced property has five bedrooms, four bathrooms, a huge living room and dining room, and a second-floor family room overlooking Silver Lake. In a listing written by Natalie Trapin of Compass, she described the residence as a “classic fairytale home” featuring “wonderfully authentic 1920s craftsmanship.”
The palace remained in her possession for only two years.
The property also includes a kitchen with a custom island, marble countertops, and a fireplace, while upstairs there is a suite that also includes a seating area, walk-in closet, and marble bathroom. On the lush green exterior there is a swimming pool and living room as well as a two-car garage.
According to Robb’s report, the actress purchased the home for $4.1 million in November 2021, so even if she gets her asking price, she will be selling it at a small loss.
Los Angeles: Where it all began!
Addie McDowell was born in Gaffney, South Carolina, to parents of English, French, Scottish, Irish, and Welsh descent, and has three older sisters. Her childhood was not carefree, as her mother suffered from mental disorders and was also addicted to alcohol. Her parents divorced when she was six years old, and her mother died at the age of 53. On a trip to Los Angeles, she was discovered by an agent who convinced her to sign with Elite Model Management in New York in 1978.
A few years later, after she began studying acting, Steven Soderbergh would choose her to play the title role in the emblematic film of the decade, “Sex, Lies and Videos,” which would premiere at the 1989 Cannes Film Festival, winning the Palme d’Or. McDowell was awarded numerous awards and a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor. A film that would change American independent cinema forever, approaching human relationships, betrayal and its effects, with a European flair. Besides her, James Spader and other talented actors will serve the wonderful scenario perfectly.
Her success will bring her many offers and in 1990 she will star in the excellent comedy film “Green Card” by the important Australian director Peter Weir and alongside Gerard Depardieu. A film with a brilliant comedic style, in which the French star plays the role of an illegal immigrant in the United States, who, in order to obtain a green card for legal residence, will have to have a white wedding, which will develop into great love. Then McDowell’s career was accompanied by nothing but successes!
