Angela Zelea passed away yesterday at the age of 88, and the news of her death spread grief through the art world.
The songs she performed, as well as her roles alongside Nikos Xanthopoulos, ranked her among the heroines of the golden age of Greek cinema.
He collaborated with notable actors including Georgia Vasiliadou, Vassilis Avlonitis, Nikos Rizos, Xenia Kalogeropoulou, Stefanos Linnaios.
As a pop singer, she managed to win 5 awards at different festivals (Barcelona, Sopot, Thessaloniki). Indeed, at the Sopot Festival in Poland (1966), he won the first performance award among songs from 42 countries. In Thessaloniki in 1964 he also won first prize with the song “Welcome love” and in 1968 second prize with the song “Hit my heart”.
Painful difficulties before the end
It seems that the death of Angela Zelea was a martyrdom, since five days ago the great singer fell inside her house and broke her spine, and her beloved daughter took her to a private clinic.
However, the unbearable pain led to cardiac arrest. Her best friend, Tyrese Chrysos, is in very bad shape after the tragic accident.

“For half a century Angela and I were close friends, like brothers. We went all over the world on tour and were glorified everywhere we went. The result was that I didn’t speak to her while she was alive. I didn’t have time to go to the hospital and I would carry this burden on my conscience.” The well-known artist said in one of the daily newspapers.
