I change a water heater: beneficiaries and conditions

The potential beneficiaries of the program are domestic consumers who have electric water heaters installed in their homes (not on the premises), which they would like to replace.

Applications are submitted by natural individuals who were born before January 1, 2006 and are permanently residing in Greece. In order to submit an application, a natural person must:

• You must have a tax registration number, as well as valid access codes to AADE’s online services, by which it can be identified.
• Have filed an Income Tax Return (E1) in the 2021 tax year, either as an individual obligor or joint return, or indirectly as a spouse/sponsor in the case of a joint return. The relevant statement should be cleared.

Any natural person may submit One application related to primary or secondary residencein which the following conditions are cumulatively met:

• It is the main or secondary residence of the applicant (owned, rented or leased).

In the case of families/families with primary and secondary residence, it is possible to submit applications for both residence (primary and secondary), as long as the applications are submitted by different natural persons (obligated and spouse/SSO) of the same household, as long as they are covered by the other terms of this section.

Who cannot apply for subsidy for solar water heaters

• Beneficiaries (natural persons who submitted the application) who filed an income tax return in the reference year (2021) as residents abroad are not eligible.
• Also not eligible are recipients, who in the reference year (2021) filed a joint income tax return (specifically as debtor and spouse/MSS), if the other member or dependent child of the returnee was a foreign resident in that year.
• Dependent members who do not self-certify (that is, they are not required to submit their own individual declaration) may not apply for their participation in the Program.
• Beneficiaries whose average annual income per family member exceeds €30,000 (thirty thousand euros) are not eligible.
• Beneficiaries who have received or applied to receive support to purchase a solar water heater from another fund or financial instrument or from another European or national program such as Save are not eligible.

Support for solar water heaters: the most important term

In order to be able to subsidize the purchase of a new solar water heater, the beneficiary’s old electric water heater must be withdrawn for recycling. By participating, each program beneficiary declares an express acceptance of the obligation to turn over the old water heater to the retailer, from whom he also purchases the new subsidized water heater.

In particular, the grant is allowed:

• A new solar water heater to replace the old electric water heater, only if the old water heater to be decommissioned has a capacity equal to or greater than forty (40) liters.
