Archbishop of Crete Mr. Eugene.
During his speech on the Feast of Saint Titus, Primate of the Church of Crete, during a rally against the new signs, planned at the same time in Liberty Square, a short distance from the Cathedral. Saint Tito of Heraklion characteristically said: “Wait and see if the Church wants to intervene. In general we should all be here tonight, not (the SS at the rally) incited by the para-church centers.”
“Some people are in a hurry to get an ID after hearing someone’s conspiracy”
According to cretalive.gr, he said of images of citizens queuing for hours at police stations to be issued old-style IDs to avoid new ones “with a chip”: “Some people from our police department are rushing to get ID cards after hearing some conspiracies. In other words, do they think that the Church will leave our account inescapable, that it will not tell us what it needs to say when it needs to be told, and that it will not react when it needs to react?”.
Eugene’s call to the faithful
Concluding his speech, the archbishop called on the faithful to trust the Church “There are your spiritual gifts. Finally trust the Church and do not listen to anyone who takes advantage of your faith, devotion and innocence of heart”.
“That is why we stand next to Agios Titos, the first bishop of Crete, and this is where the heart of our Church beats. I invite you to come tomorrow to the Divine Liturgy to commemorate the saint who unites us to Christ, the Church and each other. Fear nothing when St. Titus is a companion in our lives” came to an end.
