After the short promotional presentation of the game that we saw during the Xbox Games Show 2024, Ubisoft She kept her promise and detailed what was to come Shadows of Assassin’s Creed During its Ubisoft Forward showcase.
Specifically, we saw about 13 minutes of gameplay footage showcasing several changes made to the game’s formula. For example, we saw two playable characters during gameplay, Naoe, a Shinobi Assassin, and Yasuke, a samurai. The two characters have completely different playstyles, with Naoe specializing in stealth, while Yasuke specializes in combat. In fact, one of the aspects that seems very advanced are the more lively environments, because for example during battle a lot of objects can be destroyed, while in stealth the light sources can be turned off to create shadows.
The show focused on an assassination mission, but it also gave us a look at beautiful 16th century feudal Japan, where Assassin’s Creed Shadows takes place. Note that another important new addition is the new weather system. The weather in the World of Shadows will be unpredictable and the seasons will change. Each season brings with it changes to the environment and gameplay. For example, you can swim underwater in a lake during the summer, while the lake freezes in the winter. The grass will grow tall in the spring, making it ideal for hiding, while it dries out in the fall, eliminating hiding places. Icicles hanging on buildings can break and fall, revealing your location during the winter, etc. In this particular gameplay, we saw Naoe hiding in the grass, taking advantage of the season and the way the environment had changed.
