A 45-year-old citizen was arrested yesterday, Wednesday, August 14, at Katerini, Berea, by police officers of Katerini Security Sub-Directorate for fraud against the elderly.
In particular, earlier in the day, his associates called an old man in Pieria area who said his daughter was injured and asked for money for immediate surgery.
In this way, he was able to extract from him the 1,050 euros received by the aforementioned person.
After police operations, he was placed and arrested in the Pieria area, and during the search of his house, the above money was found, attributed to its rightful owner.
A vehicle belonging to him and a mobile phone were seized.

Further investigation by the police revealed that three other elderly people were duped in the same manner last month and a total of 10,400 euros and 12,000 euros worth of jewelry were taken from the victim’s report in Berea. Ceres and Halkidiki.
Also, on August 3, 2024, they tried to defraud 3 more elderly people in the villages of Piria, asking for a total of 38,000 euros, but without success.
Police investigations are on to identify the details of his accomplices and find out their involvement in other similar criminal activities.
The arrested person will be taken to the Katarinis District Attorney with a case registered against him.
