Bad Weather Daniel: One died in Magnesia

The death toll was two as the body of an elderly woman was recovered in Baltsey, Magnesia, which had been “affected” by Daniel’s bad weather.

According to reports, the girl may be one of the missing, while she was swept away by the water.

Bad weather has affected many parts of the continent today, with Karditsa, Fidiotida and Evia suffering the worst.

After 10:30 it was known by the fire department that an 87-year-old woman was found dead in Baltsi, Magnesia, the unfortunate woman was found in a pile of wood.

Heavy rains have caused flooding, forcing authorities to evacuate villages, while traffic has stopped on a section of the Larissa-Corditsa highway.

Especially for Sofiata, where its evacuation has been requested, access to the village has been cut off and EMAK’s approach to evacuate the approximately 200 people living in the village is only by boats.

Further westward movement of the storm, from the province of Magnesia to Karditsa, has shifted the problems to the Domokos Plateau in Phitiotida, while significant problems have been noted in the east and north of Evia.
