Bad August weather caused problems in many parts of the country yesterday (20/8), with strong storms, flooding, hail and lightning.
Severe weather affected Volos, Imathia, Larissa, Trikala, Pella and Kosani and in the evening bad weather shifted to Halkidiki and Thermaikos Gulf.
Marble
The streets of Volos turned into rivers. According to TheNewspaper.gr, the biggest problem was seen in Laurisis Street in the Neapolis district, where the wells were blocked and unable to withstand the level of water. Vehicular traffic was carried on a single lane especially at low speeds.

There is a risk of electric shock or fire along with falling trees and power lines at various places. The traffic lights on the ring road of Volos above Iolko Street were also out of order.
A second wave of bad weather appeared over Volos a few minutes before 12 o’clock with storm and lightning.
Larisa
The bad weather that hit Larissa on Tuesday afternoon caused significant problems in various parts of the city.
In many places there were no lights, power outages and many roads turned into rivers.
The services of the municipality of Larissa have been ongoing since the afternoon of the severe weather events. In fact, citizens were advised to avoid unnecessary movement and also not to park their vehicles under trees.
According to larissanet.gr, trash cans fell to the ground, as well as several branches and several calls to the fire department to cut down trees. Hail also occurred in other parts of Larissa Province, such as Killar and Terpsithia Municipality.
Trikala – Gosani
In Trikala, inclement weather was severe with walnut size hail with gusty winds from various directions.
According to Trikalola, many crops were damaged.
As shown in a video by kozanimedia.gr, hail covered the roofs of the houses of Metaxas Serbian residents in Kozani.
Unstable weather today
Rain and storms, which may be temporarily strong in some places, will also be present in central, eastern Macedonia and Thrace early in the morning.
According to EMY, the weather will remain unstable in most parts of the country.
In the Ionian, western mainland, central, eastern Macedonia, Thrace, eastern Thessaly and northern Evia, clouds with rain and scattered storms will be temporarily stronger in central, eastern Macedonia and Thrace in the morning.
Elsewhere in the country, some clouds increased temporarily in the afternoon and afternoon over mainland and Crete areas with showers or isolated storms.
Improvement is expected across the country from evening onwards.
In the morning, the visibility in the west will be less at some places.
Winds will be west northwest 4 to 5 and inland up to 6 Beaufort on seas.
The temperature does not change significantly. It ranges from 31 to 32 degrees in northern continents, 34 to 35 degrees in other continents and 30 to 33 degrees Celsius in island nation.
Attica
Weather: A few clouds will increase temporarily during the afternoon and afternoon with localized showers and isolated thunderstorms.

Temperature: 22 to 33 degrees Celsius.
Thessaloniki
Weather: Temporarily increasing clouds with localized showers and scattered storms may strengthen locally in the morning hours. The weather will clear in the evening.
Winds: Variable 3 to 4 Beaufort, evening northwesterly with same intensity.
Temperature: 21 to 30 degrees Celsius.
Macedonia, Thrace
Weather: Temporarily increased clouds with local rain and scattered storms. Impacts will be strongest in the early morning hours in central and eastern Macedonia and Thrace. Progress in the evening.
Wind: North 3 to 4 Beaufort.
Temperature: 20 to 32 degrees Celsius. Minimums will be 3 to 4 degrees lower in western Macedonia.
Ionian Islands, Epiros, West Styria, West Peloponnese
Weather: Partly cloudy at times with localized showers and isolated thunderstorms mainly in the afternoon and afternoon hours. Progress in the evening.
Wind: Northwest 4 to 5 Beaufort and local to 6 Beaufort.
Temperature: 22 to 33 degrees Celsius. At least 3 to 4 degrees lower in the interior of Epirus.
Eastern Styria, Evia, Eastern Peloponnese
Weather: A few clouds with localized rain and isolated thundershowers increased temporarily mainly in the afternoon. Progress in the evening.
Wind: North Northwest 3 to 4 Beaufort, South Southwest with same intensity.
Temperature: 21 to 34 degrees Celsius.
Cyclades, Crete
Weather: Some clouds increased temporarily with a chance of localized showers during the afternoon and afternoon hours.
Wind: West Northwest 3 to 5 Beaufort.
Temperature: 24 to 33 degrees Celsius.
Eastern Aegean Islands – Dodecanese
Weather: A few clouds will increase temporarily with a chance of rain in the north.
Winds: West Northwest 4 to 5 and locally up to 6 Beaufort in the southern parts of the Dodecanese.
Temperature: 23 to 33 degrees Celsius.
Thessaly
Weather: Temporarily increased clouds with local rain and scattered storms. Morning effects may be locally stronger over eastern regions and the Sporades. Progress in the evening.
Wind: Northwest 3 to 4 Beaufort.
Temperature: 20 to 34 and locally up to 35 degrees Celsius.
