The Economic Police Directorate conducted a surprise raid yesterday, June 27, 2024, Thursday afternoon in an area of Athens, in a store of health interest, where illegal games of chance were being conducted.
A total of 27 people were arrested in the case and booked against them for violating laws on games, personal data and foreigners.
The shop was discovered by a special unit of the Directorate of Economic Police. After using appropriate information, it was found that illegal games like “Roulette” and “Slots” were being conducted there.
In fact, to control the entry and movement of customers and to avoid surprise police raids, the interior and exterior areas of the store were monitored by cameras without the permission of the competent authority.
In total, during the tests carried out, the following were found and seized:
- A “roulette” type game machine with a coin acceptor,
- A specially designed table with monitors, connected to central units and mice, where the game of chance “Roulette” was depicted,
- -6- Table Roulettes,
- -25- complete computers, which depict the game of chance “Fruits”,
- -3- wall monitors,
- -8- server,
- -4- Card game tables,
- Wireless remote control and -15- cameras,
- Lots of chips and playing cards,
- Handwritten notes and
- -4,465- Euros.
The seized digital evidence will be sent to the Directorate of Criminal Investigation for laboratory testing, while the rest will be kept safe at the Directorate of Public Material Management, while the money will be returned to the deposit and loan fund.
The arrested persons were taken to the appropriate investigating officer.
