The “Theramica” match between Villarreal and Barcelona witnessed a great spectacle, goal lists, goals, refereeing… a scandal and the Catalan team won 4-3, after an unlikely reversal in the coup.
Barcelona managed to beat Villarreal in “Theramica”. 4-3 In a satisfying match in the third round of La Liga that puts up an early nomination for best of the season.
The match started with a party for the Catalans, who advanced in one quarter with two goals with Javi and Frankie de Jong. The “Yellow Submarine” was not in great quantity in the match, having already threatened with a four-volley from Alexandre Charlotte that was saved by Marc-Andre ter Stegen and after 2-0 down at a similar stage the German goalkeeper said “no” to Pedratha.
Somewhere, weaknesses appeared in the Blaugrana line-up, as Juan Foyt pulled one back in the 26th minute. But the most talked about phase was Villarreal’s counter-attack in the 40th minute, which resulted in a goal for Charlotte, who had been ruled offside earlier. The stage was reviewed, and the lines supported Barcelona’s protest, but the video assistant referee was confused and considered that there was no offside in the stage!
Early in the second half, Alex Baena from close range completed the surprise for Quique Setién’s men, who then rested, held their ground and paid for it. In the 68th minute, substitute Ferran Torres equalized 3-3 (while Lamine Yamal scored earlier), and three minutes later, in the Catalans’ second goal, Robert Lewandowski scored into an empty net to make it 4-3.
