A few days ago we told you about the rumors that were spreading online and we wanted to Resident Evil 9 Because it received an internal postponement, and as a result it may miss the year 2025. Finally, it seems that this is not the case, as the latest news about the release of the anticipated sequel has been positive!
Going into details, all this information about what's happening behind the scenes has been brought to light by Dusk Golem. This is one of the most reliable leaks in the industry when it comes to horror games, as it has a very strong track record over the past few years, with confirmed leaks for Silent Hill and Resident Evil.
First, Golem revealed on Discord that Resident Evil 9 will finally be out in 2025, a date Capcom has been targeting internally until now. But now new information has reached his ears, and he confirms that the rumors about a possible delay that he has heard and reported can be ignored. So, Resident Evil 9 may be revealed very soon And true To be released next yearEven inside January.
In fact, Golem stated that January 2025 is not just a new date that is now being heard for the first time, but a goal that Capcom has long set. Then the leaker added:
Just to clear something up, Resident Evil 9 began early development in early 2018 as the then-potential Resident Evil 8. The Village started out as Resident Evil 8, then became a spin-off title, and eventually became Resident Evil 8 again. In a way, this game eventually became Resident Evil 9. Yes, you got it right. Resident Evil 8 and Resident Evil 9 were in development at the same time. Resident Evil games are typically greenlit in batches and are planned a few years in advance in order to keep the series on an “almost annual” basis.
As I've said many times before, there was a funny time in 2018 where Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3, Resident Evil 4, Resident Evil 8, and Resident Evil 9 were all in development at the same time! Something somewhat “similar” happened recently, as another batch of Resident Evil games got the green light in early 2023.
Resident Evil 9 has the largest budget and longest development time of any Resident Evil game to date, and I've described it as “ambitious” in the past. None of this is new, it's stuff I've been repeating for years.
January 2025 I haven't heard of it now, it was just a date I heard previously that they might still be aiming for it, but you never know in game development.
I won't leak/rumour any other details about the game, just let Capcom do what they want and surprise people.

Finally good, so it's all good about the Resident Evil 9 delay rumors Development appears to be going smoothly and on schedule for Capcom. So, all eyes are now on Summer Game Fest, which will likely host the title's reveal, if it is indeed released in January 2025.
