BRASILIA, April 25 (BRENCE LATINA) – The Brazilian government today congratulated Emmanuel Macron on his election victory as President of France for 20 years.
“The Brazilian government congratulates Mr. Emmanuel Macron on his re-election as President of the Republic of France,” the State Department statement said.
He promises that the South American giant will reaffirm his desire to work to deepen the historical ties that connect the two countries and to bring mutual benefits to Brazilians and French.
Further, the note further states that “the Administrator expresses the expectation of the continued implementation of the broader bilateral agenda”.
In the second round of voting on Sunday, Macron received 58.6 percent of the vote. His rival, far-right representative Marine Le Pen, scored 41.4.
After winning the referendum, the Brazilian presidential candidates congratulated former President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, a former banker.
Far-right leaning President Jair Bolzano, for his part, is still silent on the outcome.
Throughout his tenure, Bolzano was at loggerheads with Macron, mainly because of his opponent’s criticism of the Brazilian government’s position on the environment.
Macron was the fourth Gaelic president to be re-elected from the beginning, known as the Fifth Republic, who took office in 1958 with the drafting of a new constitution and the appointment of General Charles de Gaulle.
France has voted for eight rulers since the beginning of that phase, half of which were approved for a second time.
