A Brazilian fitness influencer was killed by her husband during an argument and her attacker dumped her body outside her parents' home.
Deborah Michels, 30, was found lying on a sidewalk in Montenegro, a town located in the southern state of Rio Grande do Sul, in the early hours of Friday 26 January. Police believe the unfortunate woman was murdered by her husband of 10 years, who then dumped her body outside her parents' home.
What happened
Alexander Gunsch allegedly grabbed Debbie by the neck and threw her against the dresser. At this point, he told police his bodybuilder wife began feeling ill and quickly lost consciousness. He then set off to take her to the hospital, but when he realized she was dead, he threw her on the sidewalk in front of her parents' house.
Surveillance camera footage showed the moment the suspect took Debbie's body out of his car and threw it on the sidewalk.
The family wants justice
Her angry and devastated brother, Alex Michaels, told local media: “This situation is disgusting. What our family wants is justice. “You can't let anyone get away with it.”
He also added that Debbie wants a divorce. “The family has a lot of strength to bear this situation. The community is terrified. The day before the crime they were discussing getting a divorce. Everything seemed to be fine, until my parents woke up and found their daughter dead in front of the house,” the woman’s brother said.
Police investigations are still ongoing and the husband is in detention. Debbie was very popular on social media and had thousands of followers who followed her training and advice as a personal trainer. Photos posted on social media also show Debbie and her husband, often at the gym together, working out.
