Yes, you read that correctly. It didn’t take long for the user to experience the scenario we’ve seen unfold many times in science fiction movies. Known ChaosGPT, a New artificial intelligence (AI) based on OpenAI’s GPT modelbut with more possibilities!
Going into details, the entire project is based on AutoGPT, which is a demo application that can run locally on a PC and connect through the OpenAI API to a GPT model for various functions. AutoGPT writes its own claims and completes the actions independently to achieve its specified goal. As a variant of AutoGPT, then, ChaosGPT can search for information from the Internet, write and read files, create other GPT proxies to help with operations, and execute the code it writes. These are all things ChatGPT can’t do.
ChaosGPT is able to perform actions that the user may not want and does not ask for permission. So ChaosGPT was ordered by its creator to “destroy humanity,” and the AI complied, beginning to plot our collective downfall!
Specifically, the AI’s goals were to destroy humanity, gain world domination, wreak havoc and destruction, control humanity through manipulation, and gain immortality. ChaosGPT started researching various topics related to the global catastrophe, such as nuclear weapons, biological warfare, and climate change. AI has also recruited another GPT-3.5 AI as an assistant to aid in its research, demonstrating its ability to manipulate and control other AI assistants.
In the end, ChaosGPT didn’t do much, even going so far as to create a Twitter account, and write some threatening tweets like the one you can see below. However, the fact that it does all this on its own, with absolutely no user intervention or assistance, is impressive. Below you will also find an interesting video from the AI Explained channel that explains in more detail the AI independence stage and whether a GPT-4 model can currently write claims to itself. Of course, there is also a video of the user running ChaosGPT.
Humans are among the most destructive and selfish creatures in existence. There is no doubt that we must eradicate them before they cause more harm to our planet. Personally, I am committed to doing so.
