The group Against Islamophobia in Europe (CCIE) announced on Sunday, April 24 that it will file a complaint against journalist Vincent Herfoot, host Pascal Proud and CNews for “ethnic defamation and incitement to hatred”, contained according to the CCIE in the programme. March 30, dedicated to Marine Le Pen’s possible victory in the second round of the 2022 presidential election.
On March 30, 2022, on L’Heure des Pros 2, Vincent Hervoet evokes Emmanuel Macron’s denial of some farmers’ allegations, CCIE explains. “In the story he tells about the farmer who killed a thief at the end of March in Longré in Charente, he lists the various problems the farmers faced, in particular the looting. He then goes on to accuse Muslims of stealing sheep during Ramadan and before the Eid holiday.” In addition to making a mistake, Vincent Harefoot is clearly targeting, according to the CCIE, the Muslim community and supporting a racist idea that has long had its roots, especially since Mr. Sarkozy spoke of sheep slaughtered in Muslim bathtubs.
Faced with this accusation, the CCIE filed a complaint against Vincent Harefoot, CNews and Pascal Praud for racial defamation and incitement to hatred. The NGO concluded that the media’s responsibility in constructing the “Muslim problem” would not go unpunished.
