Although the company has made sure to put Copilot – or is about to put it since the latest Windows 11 update has not reached everyone – in the desktop environment of every user it can, there is still a large portion of users who have the older Windows 10 operating system that He has yet to test any of the company’s new AI features. But as mentioned earlier, this will change soon. According to information from Windows Central, Microsoft Copilot will also be made available for Windows 10 through an update that will be released soon. Just like in Windows 11, the update in Windows 10 will pin the Copilot icon directly to the taskbar, which will open the exact same sidebar as in Windows 11.

The main reason behind this decision is market share. Windows 10 is still being used on about 1 billion active devices, while the number of active devices running Windows 11 is about 400 million devices per month. Microsoft sees this additional billion users as an untapped market for Copilot expansion, so adding it to Windows 10 was the obvious next step. Thanks to this decision, Microsoft’s task of convincing developers to create additional functionality for Copilot will be easier: otherwise 1.4 billion users out of 400 million will be listened to. The more Copilot users, the more important it is for a developer to develop a plugin for Copilot rather than choosing a competing solution.
