It’s been about a month since Megalopolis hit theaters, but Francis Ford Coppola’s new film doesn’t seem to be going anywhere. The film that the great director has been thinking about since the 1970s has finally been given flesh and bones, even if it means he has to put $120 million out of his pocket.
The reviews at its screening at the Cannes Film Festival in March weren’t the best (the film divided audiences and critics), and it managed to secure a distribution company with a thousand efforts. However, just when one thought the problems were over for Francis Ford Coppola’s new “baby,” Lionsgate came along and made a mess of it.
The distributor released the new trailer for the film on Wednesday, but was forced to pull it hours later. The video begins by going back in time and presenting a series of negative reviews of Coppola’s famous works, such as “The Godfather” and “Revelation Now.” The problem was that many of these reviews were never written.

“We sincerely apologize to the reviewers involved, Francis Ford Coppola, and American Zoetrope for this inexcusable error in our review process. We had a blast. We are sorry,” a Lionsgate spokesperson said in a statement.
All this, shortly after a video was leaked showing the famed director groping women on the set of “Megalopolis.” A spokesman for Francis Ford Coppola declined to comment on the videos or allegations of his behavior.
