According to Zac Bowden of Windows Central, the next major release of Windows is called “Next Valley,” continuing the naming pattern that began with Windows 11 (Sun Valley).
During a presentation at the conference Ignite 2022, its appearance made an image that reveals the new design, which seems to have been optimized to perfectly adapt to any type of device, be it a tablet, a laptop or a computer with accessories such as a mouse, keyboard, etc. Although Zach Bowden said that no code has been finalized for the next big release, the appearance of the image has everyone wondering if we’ll see anything close to the final release sometime in 2023.
It might make sense to add a floating taskbar when using certain apps like the new Microsoft Designer or even Paint, but we’ll have to wait a long time to see its usefulness.
Also considering Microsoft’s commitment to deliver a major version of Windows every three years or so, it wouldn’t be surprising if the next version of the company’s operating system was revealed at the end of 2023 with the potential to be available to insiders in early 2024.
