Dimitra Matsuoka spoke about her mother In an interview with Bovary:
“I grew up in Glyfada. I was an excellent student. My father was a customs officer and my mother worked for several years as a receptionist in a hotel. I have few memories, not a very strong one. In general it was good. Because of Glyfada, my memories always have a little bit of sea, sun and light It’s like I grew up in L.A. Theater came into my life so strangely and suddenly. It wasn’t in my system at all. I wanted to go into law and my dream was to deal with criminal law. Sophomore year when I was going to do Panhellenics, to correct the fair, I saw a lot of theater , which I didn’t watch until then, because I had plenty of time. I went to the movies more, and even movies like the one Asty was playing.
But when I saw “Our Little Town” in the theater Which Volanakis carried at the time, I said ‘this is what I want to do’. Come on, tell your folks now. But I said it and went to school. They took it differently – dad is happy, mom is not at all. Until the age of 16-17 I had a great love for classical balletBut when I realized that I would never be a great dancer because of my physique, nothing else artistic courted me. Anyway, I didn’t give any report again.”
