The Simpsons episode “Lisa the Iconoclast” has been pulled from Channel 4 in the UK following the attempted assassination of Donald Trump.
The episode, which originally aired in 1996, was part of a season seven marathon the day after the attack, which was Sunday, July 14.
However, due to its disturbing similarity to what happened in the Pennsylvania rally, it was quietly replaced with a different episode from Season 30, “Baby Can’t Drive.”
“Lisa the Iconoclast” features a plot in which Lisa Simpson discovers that the founder of her hometown of Springfield was a murderous pirate who once tried to kill George Washington and is despised by the townspeople.
In one particularly striking scene, Lisa stands on a platform as a police officer on the rooftop drops her off.
The similarities to the assassination attempt at the Trump rally led to the decision to pull the episode from the program.
According to The Independent, Channel 4 made the switch to avoid uncanny similarities and potential anodyne at a time when the US was in shock.

Conspiracy theories about the assassination attempt are “in full swing.”
Meanwhile, conspiracy theories began flooding the internet early on, with some talking about the shooter acting on “orders” from President Biden or the “deep state,” while others said it was a staged incident designed to “make the former president a hero.”
For example, a close-up video of a “suspect” attending a campaign rally, holding a sign reading “Biden” or a photo of security personnel carrying a smiling, bloodied Donald Trump, were widely shared on the X platform, in English, French and even Portuguese, as “evidence” that the attack was “organized” and “planned.”

What if the woman in the hat was likely holding the same “Joe Biden, You’re Fired” sign as her entourage, and the Secret Service members’ photo was likely Photoshopped, according to an AFP investigation: Rumors are flooding the internet after a rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday.
Countless internet users have also tried to identify the culprit themselves, with some falsely claiming, in particular, that he is an Italian YouTuber.
A video of a man filming himself inside his car and hinting that he was the killer was also widely circulated, although many US media outlets considered it a hoax.
