Easter weather: With showers, spitting preparations

Easter Sunday (05.05.2024) will see showers in many parts of the country in the morning, however, events will begin to taper off from the afternoon onwards.

In particular, on Easter Sunday, a progressive retreat of the instability is expected, but without a lack of localized rain, according to forecast data from meteo.gr/National Observatory of Athens.

In more detail, initially localized rain is expected in the eastern mainland areas, Evia and Sporades, the events will gradually stop. The Cyclades, Crete and the Dodecanese are characterized by rain and sporadic, events gradually confined to Crete.

In other parts of the country, some clouds are expected, which will increase during the hot day, giving temporary showers or isolated storms in mountainous areas, mainly in continental areas.

Regarding the two major urban centers:

In Athena A few light showers are likely till morning, mainly in the north and east of the province, but gradually cloudy weather will prevail.

At Thessaloniki Some clouds are expected, which will increase during the warmer hours of the day, with a chance of rain in the mountains.

The maps show the geographical distribution of events expected to occur during the early morning and afternoon/afternoon hours on Easter Sunday.

Weather from EMY

The EMY forecast says that tomorrow the weather will be rainy and cloudy in the central and southern Aegean, eastern Styria and Evia.

Soon the events will stop in most areas and only in Crete they will continue until the afternoon.

In the rest of the areas, a few clouds have increased temporarily, at places in the continental areas during the afternoon and afternoon, there is a possibility of scattered rain in the mountains.

Winds: Northeast 4 to 5 and East 6 Temporary local 7 Beaufort gradually weakening from afternoon.
Temperature: 14 to 25 degrees Celsius.

Thessaloniki
Weather: Generally clear and only in the afternoon and afternoon with localized cloud formation and a chance of rain in the surrounding mountains.
Winds: Variable 3 to 4 and afternoon-afternoon southeast to 5 Beaufort.
Temperature: 13 to 21 degrees Celsius.

Macedonia, Thrace
Weather: East Macedonia and Thrace will see some clouds increase early in the morning and there will be local showers and isolated storms. The rest of the area will be generally clear, with local cloud formation only in the afternoon and afternoon and a chance of rain in the mountains.

Temperature: 09 to 24 degrees Celsius. Maximums will be 2 to 3 degrees lower in western Macedonia and Thrace.

Ionian Islands, Epiros, West Styria, West Peloponnese
Weather: Generally clear with local cloud formation only in mid-afternoon and chance of rain in the hills.
Winds: Variable 3 to 4 and in the Ionian in the mornings north northwest inland 5 Beaufort.
Temperature: 10 to 25 degrees Celsius. Maximums in the interior of Epirus are 3 to 4 degrees lower.

Eastern Styria, Evia, Eastern Peloponnese
Weather: In the eastern Peloponnese, some clouds increased locally in the early morning. Cloudy in other parts with local showers and improvement from noon.
Wind: North 4 to 6 Beaufort.
Temperature: 13 to 25 degrees Celsius.

Cyclades, Crete
Weather: Local cloud generally with light rain only from midday to Crete. A gradual improvement in the weather in Crete is expected from the afternoon.
Winds: 5 to 6 from northerly directions and 7 Beaufort locally in the Cyclades in the mornings.
Temperature: 14 to 22 degrees Celsius.

Eastern Aegean Islands – Dodecanese
Weather: Scattered showers and isolated storms in the south as some cloud increases inland in the morning.
Wind: North 5 to 7 Beaufort.
Temperature: 14 to 22 degrees Celsius.

Thessaly
Weather: In the provinces of Magnesia and Sporades, some clouds will increase locally in the early morning, with local rain. The rest of the area will be generally clear, with local cloud formation only in the afternoon and afternoon and a chance of rain in the mountains.
Winds: Variable 3 to 4 and east northeast 5 and early morning 6 to Beaufort.
Temperature: 10 to 24 degrees Celsius.
