Electricity bills: Who will get “jumbo” electricity this month?

A large number of households will face surprises when they open their electricity bill because the final fee for the current month is lower. The subsidy announced by the Ministry of Environment doubles compared to December, which led to a decrease in the tariff that households will pay for January consumption by 7% to 64%.

The Energy Minister, Kostas Skrykas, announced a subsidy for January electricity bills a few days ago, in the wake of tariff increases announced by service providers.

He stressed that the total support for households and companies amounts to 840 million euros, double what it was in December.

In particular, Mr Skrekas pointed out that for all primary and non-primary benefits regardless of service provider, tiered support is structured as follows:

Up to 500 kWh: 330 € per MWh

From 501 to 1000 kWh, 280 euros per megawatt hour, then the subsidy increases to 50 euros per megawatt hour

More than 1001 kilowatt-hours 190 euros per megawatt-hour

Protergia: 448 euros/MWh (from 368 in December)

HERON: 360 €/MWh with consistency discount – 450 €/MWh without consistency discount (from 304 and 380 €/MWh in December respectively)

Elpedison: €450/MWh (from €350 in December). The “Elpedison Consistency Day” program is also offered with a fixed price of €5 and a cost of €422/MWh with consistency discount (from €2 32/MWh for December)

NRG: €440/MWh for Prime (from €319/MWh in December). The company has an on-time nrg program with a fee of €409/MWh (with a 15% consistency discount)

Natural gas: €358/MWh with consistency discount (from €298/MWh in December) and €477/MWh without consistency discount (from €318/MWh in December)

ELIN: €375/MWh (from €285/MWh in December)

Zenith: 465 euros/MWh (from 329 in December).

Watts and volts: 459 euros / MWh (from 389 in December).

Volterra: 518 euros/MWh (from 398 in December).

The ministry issued examples of calculating the new electricity prices after the officially announced subsidy.
