With the help of special license plate scanners, the police and AADE will locate uninsured and immobilized vehicles
The digital trap for the uninsured, KTEO, unpaid toll fees as reported by the newspaper “Al-Dameer”, according to which 90% are uninsured. Tractors and construction machines are the big problem in Itolowakarnania. Law and difficulties
Article in detail:
A few days ago, the Ministry announced the digital cordon around vehicle owners that it had prepared AddyWith the aim of identifying people wandering on the roads without insurance, without passing through KTEO or with unpaid tolls.
It is expected that the platform through which the crossings will be carried out by vehicles will be activated at the beginning of next September, while the draft law stipulating the new monitoring system at electronic crossings and the new penal code for violators is expected to reach Parliament in Parliament. Coming days.
In particular, regarding KTEO, the problem is that the services cannot currently know exactly how many vehicles are broken down, something that is expected to be exceeded from September onwards! We remind you that with the new provisions, increased fines have been introduced for late payment of toll fees.
The software will be ready to be downloaded onto tax officers’ tablets and the first “bumps” will take place next October. When vehicles are found to be declared immovable, fines of €10,000 must be “dropped” and, if repeated, amount to removal of the driving licence.
Electronic “blocks” will be placed at key points, where the passage of thousands of vehicles will be recorded on a daily basis. Monitoring will be carried out after a monitoring order is issued or after electronic crossings by AADE, with information derived from highway concessionaires, namely from Atiki Odus and National Grid.
With the help of special license plate scanners, police and AADE will locate uninsured and immobilized vehicles. The competent services will “see” the violators through automatic examination of data from the huge database that will be created for the vehicles and fines will be cut and sent digitally via email and via taxis.
The fine for those found driving immobilized vehicles is up to 10,000 euros, and if the offender is discovered again within three years driving the immobilized vehicle, the fine is tripled to 30,000 euros. The administrative fine is imposed on the owner or possessor of the vehicle and, in the case of co-owners, on the joint owner who initially submitted the application to immobilize the vehicle.
The checks will be conducted in theory on a six-monthly basis by the General Secretariat for Information Systems (GISS) with an electronic check of data from the databases of AADE and the Ministries of Infrastructure, Transport, Protection of Citizens, Interior, Immigration and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Asylum, Association of Insurance Companies, from the Registry of Insured Vehicles in the Capital Assistance, Alternative Management of Vehicles in Greece and TAXISnet.
What’s happening in the area?
However, sources from the field of insurance brokers in Itoloakarnania present a rather complex and bleak picture, which may make efforts in this direction very difficult. An experienced insurance broker from the Agrinho region explains: “Vehicles used in construction projects or tractors are 90% uninsured! And the insured are poorly insured because often citizens ask the “paratroopers” for only the basics, which means they insure the tractor without a trailer. While there is no tractor without a trailer, there is also chaos with motorcycles that are less than 50 cc, because their licenses differ from those of other vehicles. The engineering department does not have permits for tractors, and it does not have permits for machines either, so no one knows how many they are and how much they move If one sees the license plate of a tractor – which can often be seen on a road that is moving or causing an accident – one will find that on a piece of “cardboard” it is written a number and a brand that may not be here and years, while the VAT number is not included so what! It is said that it is very optimistic in a country where there are 500,000 uninsured vehicles and we do not know if this is the case… 900,000 after all!”
According to the same source, the scourge in Itolowakarnania is represented by thousands of uninsured agricultural vehicles, mostly driven by elderly people, that drive on regional roads. “The well-known excuse of not insuring their cars because they only take them to their fields has become a great curse, as there are many cases of accidents with such vehicles. We do not need to talk about the special categories of our citizens or those who do not even have license plates!”
Fines for the uninsured
It is known that if violations are discovered, the holder of the vehicle registration license will be notified and the following fines will be imposed:
1. In the event that the vehicle is not insured:
-500 euros for passenger cars and other vehicles of any nature
– 250 euros for bicycles.
-1000 euros for buses and trucks of general use.
2. If the traffic tax debt is proven for at least one year, the traffic tax due will be proven in full after the corresponding fine.
3. If it is proven that the vehicle was not subjected to the periodic technical inspection (KTEO), the fine determined by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport will be imposed.
4. For those driving vehicles that have been immobilized, the fine is up to 10,000 euros and if the offender is discovered again within three years driving the vehicle that has been immobilized, the fine is tripled and reaches 30,000 euros. The administrative fine is imposed on the owner or possessor of the vehicle and, in the case of co-owners, on the joint owner who initially submitted the application to immobilize the vehicle.
After the violation is discovered, new electronic monitoring is carried out within a period of 3 to 12 months from the date of imposition of the fine. If it is proven that the owner has not complied until the new inspection, the vehicle registration license and number plates are removed, which are only returned upon presentation of the relevant insurance policy, a valid KTEO card or a certificate of non-payment of registration fees as the case may be and proof of payment of the fine.
