Ferencvaros is the Red and White’s opponent in the round of 16 qualifiers

Ferencvaros will be Olympiacos’ rival for a place in the top 16 teams in this year’s Conference League, as the draw revealed on Monday afternoon (18/12). For the qualifiers for stage 16 of the competition.

Carlos Carvalhal’s red and white team will compete for the first time in the “Georgos Karaiskakis” on February 15 and a week later, on the 22nd, they will try to qualify for Hungary.

It is noteworthy that Ferencvaros booked a ticket to the knockout rounds by occupying second place in Group F of the Conference League (with 10 points) behind Fiorentina (12), with the Hungarians, led by Dejan Stankovic, returning to Olympiacos after the end of the two teams’ matches in the round of 16. The first round of the UEFA Cup in the 1996-1997 season, which saw the Hungarians win at that time (3-1 in Hungary, 2-2 in the return match against Karaiskakis).

The teams that finished second in the conference groups were the strong teams in the draw and that is why the second match will be played at home. It should be noted that pairing with teams from the same federation or from the same group was not allowed.
