Fire in Attica: Last words of charred 65-year-old – sad irony that today is his day off

The agony of finding a 65-year-old worker at a commercial establishment in Patima Salandrio burnt alive hours later was excruciating.

The fires that “overwhelmed” northeastern Attica completely destroyed commerce. According to the colleagues of the unfortunate woman, the fire moved very quickly and engulfed the business, and their colleague could not get out of the burning building in time.

Tragically, on the night of August 12, the body of a working woman from Moldova was burned by firefighters in the toilet of the building.

Her last words

His colleague, speaking to the Star, revealed what were his last words before he died: “I saw the fire, I call the phone, a colleague does not pick up, I take the girl (note: Nadia). I asked her what was happening, she “Thanasi, we’re burning, shut up,” she said, “that’s all. She’s scared. Maybe she’ll tell you the fire won’t come in. I’ll save her.”

She was burned alive inside the mall on her last day at work – and she left for vacation today

However, the sad irony is that yesterday was his last day at work since his summer vacation started today, Tuesday (13/08).

Today she was supposed to go on vacation, but fate had other plans for her and in the end, this was the last summer of her life.

Unfortunately, she couldn’t get out of the business and got burned in the fire passage.

Destruction of the craft was total as all equipment melted and part of the roof collapsed.

He came to Greece for a better future, but “left” in a bad way.

The woman, who died tragically, had been working in this flower shop business for 20 years. He came to our country from Moldova 25 years ago for a good day, but the “end” was terrible.

Nadia passed away at the age of 65, leaving behind her two daughters and her husband, who live in Moldova, and a lifetime of dreams lost in ashes.

Her colleagues are devastated – with tears in their eyes, they speak of her in the best terms

The colleagues of the unfortunate woman are shocked and cannot believe how evil happened. Yesterday, when the workshop where she worked caught fire, she called in vain on her cell phone. Today, they left a few white flowers at Apogees to “say goodbye” to the tearful, hardworking and always smiling Nadia.

“It’s the worst. We’ll put our backs in the shop and set it up, but this is the worst,” said a 65-year-old colleague.

Throughout the night, the owner’s son, together with firefighters and some employees, searched for the unfortunate woman trapped in the toilet of the workshop:

“At eight in the night, the phone rang that Nadia did not come home. We inform the police there. They came here, entered and found her in the bathroom. Her loss was more than burning down the shop for me. My legs were cut. He is a good man. She’s a lady at work,” said the business owner.

“We Lost Nadia”

“We lost our friend Nadia, we lost a good friend and colleague,” a neighbor of the business told ERT. Two of his colleagues, who were in the building when the fire broke out, recounted, “We saw the flames and started running, and we jumped over the fence.” We said “come, come” and she said “call me”. We couldn’t do anything else.”

For his part, the owner of the business, Mr. Clearkos, speaking to MEGA, wondered “why the girl didn’t leave.”

“The accident happened yesterday afternoon. I don’t know how the girl got here. He couldn’t escape, was he trapped? I don’t know how it happened. The fire was reported at 4 o’clock but I could not go upstairs. The police were here. I then called and the fire brigade came. The fire department was negligent. I got information about the girl when the girl’s relatives called me in the evening and asked where she was. Then we understood. He worked for us for 20 years. She is married and has two daughters.

It seems that the woman was trapped inside the mall when the roof collapsed.

“The fire brigade did not come. Anabas had a fire engine in the bottom corner, but unfortunately they didn’t make it to the top.”

A colleague of the unfortunate 60-year-old Mr. Sakis, speaking to Mega, said:

“(For the burnt house) it had to be done. But the great loss of the colleague, everything else happens at some point. The fire department didn’t come. There was a fire engine in the lower corner in Anapas, but unfortunately they didn’t come up. Everything happened at once, the wind was so strong, That is why this disaster happened.

“We worked together with the unfortunate 60-year-old for more than 20 years. I don’t know what happened, I went home to collect two dogs and then the civil defense evicted us. At 9:30 p.m. we were told that Nadia was found here charred. I did not know that Nadia was missing. I Not as many as were on the road.
