Firefighters and volunteers continue to work to contain the blaze.
The situation with the Karysto fire, which has been ongoing since noon on Sunday, is particularly difficult, however, it does not threaten the residential area or some facilities.
Forces continue to be reinforced, with 23 fire engines, three pedestrians, 61 firefighters, 8 water tankers and 4 work engines from the Central Greece region and the municipality of Karistos operating at the scene.
Firefighters and volunteers continue unabated to prevent and control the spread of the fire, racing against time to control the fire fronts from daylight until the aerial vehicles take off.
Speaking to ERT, Karystos Mayor Lefteris Raviolos spoke of two major fronts, one moving towards the Livadi area and the other towards Platanistos, he said.
According to ERT, the fire front has a length of seven kilometers and is of greatest concern heading towards the village of Platanistos.
“It is very strange that the explosions happened on all three fronts at the same time”
Speaking to evima.gr earlier, Mr. Raviolos talked about a rough night.
“Tonight is going to be a very difficult night with strong winds in this area. Residents of earlier evacuated villages will not return to their homes tonight,” he said at the beginning.
“It is very strange that the explosions happened at the same time on all three ends at a distance of 3 km,” he added, leaving suspicions of arson.
In view of the state of emergency in South Evia, it is recalled that residents and tourists left the area as the 112 message was sent to evacuate four settlements in the municipalities of Karystos, Livadi, Potami, Pernaraki and Platanisto.
According to information from the Civil Defense, everyone should go to Krystos to avoid danger.
