Firefighters have had a titanic battle with the fire in Rethymno, which is still ongoing. Air vehicles also fall into battle. According to the fire department, a team of 310 firefighters and 20 pedestrian units along with 67 vehicles are working at the spot.
Also, as winds are expected to intensify, the force is expected to be further strengthened with 44 firefighters and 11 vehicles. Fire in Rethymnon: What Vasilis Kigilias had to say
In his statements, Mr. Gicilias, after his arrival at Rethymnon, asserted at the campfire and in his description of the field:
โFor two days, the men and women of the fire brigade, volunteers, both levels of local government, mayors, heads of communities and villages, ordinary people, the police and the army have fought a massive battle. .
Today I arrived in the area with 50 more forest commanders and now we are 250 people, 50 vehicles and 23 air vehicles, along with two coordinators. I am glad to see that there is no active front for the second time, but we must all work together and arrange this now, so that we are not in a difficult position to-morrow if the wind and Beaufort come again.
We have to work really hard tonight and tomorrow because all the airways are going to be the same and the drops, the wet, the circles, I hope to get a good result. Either way, nobody’s going to get out of here unless we do our job first.”
