First 3DMark performance benchmarks show the RTX 4090 is 82% faster than the RTX 3090 – Nvidia

The first benchmarks for the next major from Nvidia, and RTX 4090 Graphics processing units appeared.

Leaked benchmarks include 3DMark FireStrike Ultra, a DirectX11 benchmark running at 4K resolution, TimeSpy Extreme using the DirectX12 API and the same resolution, and Port Royal based on a custom engine featuring the DirectX Raytracing API.

The RTX 4090 is the first and fastest Ada Lovelace GPU that Nvidia is releasing this month. The new GPU features 16,384 CUDA cores and 21 Gbps of 24 GB GDDR6X memory on a 384-bit interface. NVIDIA has released a special driver for its new card, which is currently available to tech reviewers.

The RTX 4090 scores 18,892 points in FireStrike Ultra, 25,256 points in TimeSpy Extreme, and 24,886 points in Port Royal on related tests that include graphics performance metrics. Denotes a graphics card with default settings (2520MHz clock, TDP 450W). For comparison purposes, the site Video Cards It lists the scores derived from the official 3DMark ranking, which includes the average performance of different models from thousands of entries.

According to these results, the RTX 4090 is at least 82% faster than the RTX 3090. Results will vary depending on the setup and design of the board partner.

GeForce RTX 4090/3090 Performance Differences:

  • FireStrike Ultra: 2,00x – 2,04x

  • TimeSpy Extreme: 1,84x – 1,89x

  • Port Royal: 1.82x – 1.86x

Compositional standards are only part of the story. What is more interesting is the card’s performance in the best games, which will reveal how powerful the RTX 4090 is at different resolutions and different settings. We won’t have to wait long because the first standards for not only the RTX 4090 but also the RTX 4080 will be released tomorrow when the relevant non-disclosure agreement expires.
