Olympiacos will play without Isaiah Kanaan in today's match (11/2) against Marosi (20:30, ΕΟΤ3 and live broadcast from SPORT24) in the 18th round of the Stoiximan Basketball League, after it was decided that the American will be the one who will play. Survival except the sixth of foreigners.
Isaiah Kanaan is the player that Giorgos Bartzokas decided to exclude from the 12th squad of Olympiacos in today's match (11/2) with Marosi (20:30, ΕΟΤ3 and live from SPORT24) within the 18th round of the Stoiximan Basketball League.
The American goalkeeper preferred to rest, as he was excluded from the sixth place for foreigners in the match with the North Suburbs team. Under the regulation, a team can have up to 7 players registered in the Stoiximan Basket League, but can only use 6 of them in each game.
In other words, Olympiacos will play against Marousi with six foreigners: Nigel Williams-Goss, Ignas Brazdakis, Alec Peters, Filip Petrusev, Moses Wright, Mustafa Fall. The Greek roster includes Shaquille McKissic, Nikola Milutinov and Luke Sikma.
It is noteworthy that, in the meantime, Giorgos Bartzokas faces a big dilemma in front of him in the eighth round of the OPAP Hellenic Cup (15-18/2), as analyzed by Spyros Kavaliratos in the “Show Must Go On” program. In particular, the “Red and White” coach is asked to decide whether to go ahead with the change of the Greek roster, with the deadline for the event set for next Wednesday, February 14.
In practice, the Olympiacos coach has to decide whether to activate Shaquille McKissic in the Greek roster instead of Ignas Brazdeikis, thus making his second change in the second round – after Milutinov and Wright. However, this specific decision clearly has nothing to do with today's decision to drop Kanaan from the 12th spot, who was selected to rest.
