During the show week TLC introduced a gaming monitor that features a 4K resolution and a frequency of 1000 Hzfar superior to any other offering available on the market at this time.
So far, Asus is the fastest commercially available display, offering a 1080p resolution and a 540Hz refresh rate. The Alienware isn’t far behind, thanks to its 500Hz gaming display, which is also locked to 1080p. The fact that the TCL display is capable of a 1000Hz refresh rate is impressive in itself, but the 4K resolution takes the display to another level.
Blur Busters broke the news, saying: “We’ve been waiting for 1000Hz to hit the market, but what we didn’t expect was that it would debut in 4K, before 1080p and 1440p, so we’re unlikely to make the jump.” Live. 4K resolution. Resolution puts more pressure on a panel with higher refresh rates, which is why we’ve seen displays like LG’s Dual Mode OLED drop in resolution in order to achieve a 480Hz refresh rate.
The 1000Hz panel is an LCD display and is an early test model. But we could see displays capable of delivering such performance within the next few years. Blur Busters reported that they estimate that commercial versions of OLED displays capable of reaching 1,000 Hz won’t appear until 2027, while LCD displays will likely hit the market even before then.
In the whole case, of course, some other parameters also play a role. We currently do not have a cable capable of supporting 4K resolution with a 1000Hz refresh rate, so new standards for HDMI and/or DisplayPort will be needed before this display becomes commercially available. Additionally, running a game at 4K still tests the capabilities of the majority of available graphics cards, while running these titles at a frame rate high enough to justify a 1000Hz display further compounds the issue.
A 1000Hz display has been a major milestone for gaming monitors for several years, and TCL has truly exceeded all expectations by combining this feature with 4K resolution. TCL also made some major announcements during Display Week, including its first sliding Tandem OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 4K resolution. However, it will likely take some time before this technology becomes commercially available.
