Giorgos Hadoulis “New Landscapes”: what he experienced and explored in his new exhibition at Skova Gallery [εικόνες]

“I know them well,” Giorgos Hadoulis says of the landscapes he captures in his new paintings. “I have dived from the rocks into their seas, and I know when their waters are cold or warm.”

Skova Gallery presents the new solo exhibition of Giorgos Hadoulis entitled “New Landscapes” which opened on Thursday 11 April at 19:30 and runs until 11 May.

Hadulis' deep memory is reflected in his works

In his eleventh solo exhibition at Skova Gallery, Giorgos Hadoulis presents a series of twenty new works created over the past three years, consisting of large-scale oil paintings on canvas and ink works on paper.

Its subject matter is drawn from landscapes deeply rooted in the artist's memory, landscapes he lived and explored.

With his distinctive writings, he transports us to a world in which one can wander and search for his personal memories.

“I lay in the shade of the pine. There's resin from those pine trees stuck to my swimsuit.”

The artist himself says: “These landscapes are based on real landscapes, but painted freely.

I know them well. I dived from the rocks into their seas. I know when their waters are cold or warm. I lay down in the shade of the pine. There's resin from those pine trees stuck to my bathing suit. I know how dry the ears are underneath. I have seen the moon rising behind these hills, and I think how many people before me will feel all this as I do, and how many after me.”

Born in Athens in 1966, George Hadoulis is one of the most famous painters of his generation. He studied painting at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, where he lived for about ten years, and since then he has systematically exhibited his works in Greece and abroad.

As an extension of his pursuit of painting, he also has to produce particularly fine work in drawing, lithography and ceramics. Using bright colors and clean design, Giorgos Hadoulis's works celebrate what it means to be alive.

His works can be found in museums, such as the National Gallery and the Vassilis and Elisas Goulandris Foundation, as well as in important public and private collections.
