Google is training civil servants in artificial intelligence

Google has already started training 500 government employees in the field of artificial intelligence, in order to learn about this relatively new technology and enhance their knowledge.

The Ministry of Interior is implementing the qualitative educational initiative entitled “All for All” in cooperation with Google and the National Center for Public Administration and Self-Government (EKDDA), while the artificial intelligence program will start in September and expand its scope to include all public sector services.

The first training program includes three days of training by experienced and specialized trainers from Google. Two of them will be addressed to civil servants as a whole and will be presented through the thematic sections “Increase your productivity with artificial intelligence (AI)” and “Problem solving methods”. The third seminar on “Leadership in the digital age” is for executives holding positions of responsibility in the public sector.

Google’s collaboration with the Ministry of Interior, which is part of a broader initiative on AI training in Greece (AI Skills Initiative Greece) announced at the 9th Delphi Economic Forum, aims to accelerate digital transformation through AI, as well as ensure equal opportunities, accessible to all.

The said training program will be available through the platform. Grow with Google. The reason for this program was a financial report conducted by Implement Consulting Group on behalf of the company, which recorded that the widespread adoption of generative AI has the potential to increase Greece’s annual GDP by 10-12 billion euros per year. This contribution will be reflected in about ten years from now, when this technology is expected to be fully integrated into the production process and the economy.

“Boosting productivity in the country, by exploiting the potential offered by artificial intelligence, is one of the priorities of the Ministry of Interior for the development of the Greek economy,” said Deputy Minister of Interior Vivi Charalambogani. “We are proud to have tech giants like Google at our side, supporting them by enhancing the digital skills of employees, decisively reducing bureaucracy and thus directing the country’s vital potential to more productive activities, those needed by all citizens. I extend my sincere thanks to all participants in the conference.”

“It is a fact that Artificial intelligence plays an increasingly important role“It changes the way services work and delivers a wide range of benefits to everyone. AI enables developers, businesses and other organizations to create their own innovative products and solve complex challenges. Only if we work together can we develop AI responsibly. And in a country like Greece, where the public sector plays a key role in development and prosperity, we are very pleased to be able to take this step.”
