Google Maps’ universal view service is expanding to include new cities and landmarks, where Athens takes … honor.

In many parts of the world, summer has already arrived, which often means it’s time to plan trips and explore. Today, we’re sharing three new Google Maps updates to help you get the most out of your summer adventures.

The immersive offer expands to include new cities and more than 500 of the best attractions around the world!

The immersive display has come to change the way the user explores the city, using artificial intelligence to combine billions of images and create a multi-dimensional depiction of the world with reliable information superimposed. So, if you are planning a trip to Athens and want to see the historical sights – sights of the city, get to know the area before your visit.

Track your trip progress with quick directions (glimpsedirectione), which will start to be available this month!

While we like Immersive View’s rich details, sometimes “less is more”—especially when you’re relatively familiar with your route and just want to know when the next turn is.

That’s why Easy Directions comes to Google Maps, so you can easily track your trip’s progress right from the lock screen or your route overview.

Once you’re signed in, ask for directions to your destination and get started. You’ll see updated estimated times of arrival, as well as where to head next – information previously available only in the integrated navigation mode.

And if you decide to take a different route, your itinerary will update automatically. Easy Directions launched globally this month for pedestrians, cyclists and drivers around the world on Android and iOS.

Stay organized and plan trips with new updates Recentlyon your desktop

One of the hardest parts of planning a trip is keeping track of all the places you want to visit—especially if you’re traveling to multiple cities. Google has added Recents to the desktop to help with this. The app will now automatically organize the places you’ve searched, with easy highlighting on the side of the screen.

Now, with the new updates rolling out globally next month, locations from your recent searches (highlights) will be saved even after you close the Google Maps window, so you can take a break from planning and come back later without losing your progress.

You can delete places you’ve seen, plan multiple trips at once, and share a selection of points—like attractions or hotels—with your friends to organize your plans together.
