Navigation is changing as Google adds a new feature to its popular Maps. A year after its initial announcement, the tech giant will offer a useful and convenient way to access your existing routes without much hassle.
In particular, directions will now, once you select a destination, will also be visible on the lock screen, whether on Android or iOS devices.
This new function is called “Seen Directions” and allows viewing the next turn and indicative time to reach the destination. Previously, this information was only visible if the phone was unlocked or through a full-screen preview.
What users will be able to see at a glance
Thanks to Quick Directions, users will be able to see directions to their destination at a glance, without having to unlock their device every time.
The new tool will also allow users to see their route on the map and from the route selection screen, before pressing start navigation.
it's time
It was preceded a few days ago by another important change that was initially only available to iOS users. Google Maps Android users are gradually starting to see on their screens, in the upper left, a rectangular box containing weather information as well as the Air Quality Index (AQI) in real time.
The area it covers in the app is very small, and just by tapping on the frame you'll get more weather information, including a 12-hour forecast. Of course, the air quality level will also be displayed if the AQI section is pressed.
If you select anything else in the app, the weather box will disappear.
According to 9to5google, the weather data will be updated as you move using data from Google Weather.
