The U18 national team lost to Spain with a score of 83-59 in the second round of the FIBA Europe U18 Championship in Nice, Serbia. Tomorrow (24/7, 16.30), ERT3, the Greek national team will face Denmark on the third and final day of the group stage.
The National Youth’s first minutes on the ground were better than those in the premiere against Italy, but after a 0-3 run by Liotopoulos (with the only indicator of our representative group in the game), he found himself chasing the score.
Kamberidis battled it out against the 2.20 tall Mara, helping Avdalas with straight points, until the Greek team took the lead again (20-22, 9’40’).
The persistence of the Spaniards was not comparable to the Spaniards exploiting every weapon, winning offensive rebounds, at a time when Kamberidis and Samotorov had already counted three fouls.
All of these played their part in turning 27-26 (12’30”) into 33-26 (14’25”) and 36-31 (16’25”) into 49-33 (19’45”). Spain played their game in every area, reaching the third by as much as +26 (69-43, 29’30”) and finally to edge out 83-59.
