According to reports, the police have taken action to arrest the 19-year-old group leader who was in charge of the child, and others may be arrested. The keeper and of course the manager of the camp have entered into a framework of responsibilities.
According to news reports today, a 19-year-old man was arrested on charges of endangering a minor and is expected to be arraigned tomorrow.
The police were informed
An EKAV ambulance immediately rushed to the scene and the child was taken first to a local health center and then to AHEPA Hospital in Thessaloniki, where he was pronounced dead.
According to reports, around lunchtime, the team leader found the girl missing and officials began searching for her throughout the camp, until she finally passed out in the swimming pool, which was closed at the time.
The authorities and EKAV were immediately informed and great efforts were made to bring the 8-year-old back, but this was not possible.
Greek police are investigating the incident and are currently collecting statements from camp officials.
How the tragedy happened
According to thesstoday.gr, after the swimming pool the children went to the restaurant for food and returned to their homes to count before bedtime.
During the process, the team leader in charge noticed the girl’s absence and later raised the alarm across the camp.
An operation was launched for the child’s disappearance, but unfortunately, shortly after, he was found dead in the pond.
When the children were counted, it was discovered that the girl was missing, and the search for her immediately began.
After some time, she was found passed out in the pool. An ambulance rushed to the scene, but unfortunately, the girl was found already unconscious.
