He revealed how the vision problem helps him in acting

“I want to think it’s an advantage.” He told ET. “I’ve never known anything different. When I can’t see in the morning, before I put my glasses on, that’s where I can be with myself.”

Gyllenhaal has stated that his vision problem sometimes improves his performance. For example, when the police told his character that his wife was dead in the 2015 boxing movie “Southpaw,” Gyllenhaal removed his contact lenses to force himself to listen carefully. This isn’t the first time Gyllenhaal has discussed the problem with his vision. In 2017, she spoke to The Telegraph about how wearing big glasses to school in Los Angeles caused unwanted attention and teasing.

“I was an easy target”He said about his school years. “And I’ve always been a sensitive kid.”

One of the topics he’s less open to talking about is his partner Jean Cantier, a 26-year-old French model, and whether or not they will tie the knot.
