In the sweetest words, Dakota Fanning spoke about Tom Cruise, revealing that he had sent her a gift every year on his birthday since he was 11 years old.
The two had starred about 20 years ago in Steven Spielberg’s War of the Worlds. Since then, Tom Cruise and Dakota Fanning have maintained a good relationship. Interestingly, the actor seems to be on good terms with the actress, while he has not been in touch with his 18-year-old daughter Suri for years.
Dakota Fanning spoke about Cruise’s kind gesture at the premiere of her new film, “The Watchers,” held at AMC Lincoln Square in New York.
“He always sends me something every year,” he told ET. “He gave me my first cell phone when I was 11, and he remembers it every year since.”
In the 2005 film War of the Worlds, Cruise played Ray Ferrer, a divorced father of two who tries to rescue them after an alien invasion.
Fanning, who was 10 years old at the time of filming, thought that after a few years the kind gesture would stop. “I was thinking, ‘Maybe when I’m 18 or 21?’ He explained a few years ago that he loves the moment I get it. “He’s very nice and I really appreciate that.”
Her new film revolves around “Mina, a 28-year-old artist, who finds herself stranded in a forest in western Ireland.” According to the official synopsis, “When a young woman finds shelter, she is unwittingly trapped alongside three strangers pursued by some mysterious creatures.” He co-starred with Georgina Campbell, Oliver Finnegan and Anthony Morris.
The Watchers marks the directorial debut of creator M. Night Shyamalan’s daughter, Izana.
“He is a wonderful person full of energy and creativity. She had a clear plan, but she was also open to collaboration. The star stressed that a very enjoyable team environment was created, and while talking about her career, she stressed that she is “grateful for all the opportunities available to me at the moment and for all those that “I had access to it.”
The film “The Watchers” is expected to be released in our country on June 6.
