But what was Sony’s decision that caused all this chaos?
Helldivers 2 will require a PlayStation Network account So someone can play the game. In particular, from May 6, all new players will need to link their PSN and Steam accounts to be able to start the game, while existing players will have until June 4.
The official announcement stated the following:
Due to technical issues during the launch of HELLDIVERS 2, we have temporarily allowed the requirement to link Steam accounts to a PlayStation Network account to be optional. This grace period will now end.
Account linking plays a critical role in protecting our players and maintaining the safety and security values of PlayStation and PlayStation Studios games. This is the main way to protect players from grief and abuse by allowing players who engage in such behavior to be banned. It also allows banned players to appeal.
So, starting May 6th, all new HELLDIVERS 2 players on Steam will need to link their Steam account to a PlayStation Network account. Existing players on Steam will start seeing mandatory login requirements starting May 30 and must have linked their Steam and PlayStation Network accounts by June 4.
It is worth noting that after much fanfare, members of the Arrowhead Game Studios development team explained how to do this This was Sony’s decisionThe studio’s CEO urged players to express their complaints directly to her. In fact, a few hours later he also apologized to the community, stressing that he was right to be upset and that the team’s goal was simply to have good matches.
