Beautiful morning ★★★
Romantic Drama (2022), 112 d.
Directed by: Mia Hansen-Love
Starring: Léa Seydoux, Melville Bobo

From her platform Cosmos TV We choose a movie for her Mia Hansen-Love (“Bergman Island”), which deals with family ties as well as romantic companionship, with an emphasis on the charismatic presence of Lea Sidhu. The French actress plays Sandra, a single mother raising her eight-year-old daughter while also caring for her father, who is suffering from the early stages of Alzheimer’s disease.

An old (and married) friend, Clement, will then enter her life, and begin a passionate love affair with her.

As usual, Léa Seydoux excels at portraying an interesting heroine, in a film that may seem a bit torn between two different themes, yet has solid characters and atmosphere to keep the viewer’s attention alive until the end.

The adventures of a group of podcasters in the Irish countryside, featured in the Netflix series Bodkin.

Bodkin
Police comedy (2024)
Creator: Jez Scharf
Starring: Siobhan Cullen, Robin Cara

One of the most prominent series we have recently watched on its platform Netflix, comes to us from Ireland. Two popular true crime podcasters, along with an investigative reporter, travel to rural Bodkin, Ireland to find out as much as they can about the mysterious disappearance of the trio. As the investigation progresses and mouths open, they will discover that the story has much bigger and stranger dimensions than they ever imagined.

After a somewhat introductory first episode, the Netflix series picks up the pace, enriching its plot with suspense and twists. Of course it’s all about the atmosphere here: that distinct charm of the green Irish landscape, combined with “weird” humor and stereotypical – but interesting – characters. All three detectives belong to the same category, the most interesting of course being the ever-powder journalist of (The Magnificent). Siobhan Cullen.

Also interesting and funny are the observations surrounding the modern phenomenon of true crime podcasts. Somewhere between amateur detectives and performers, the show’s creators are pop culture stars, until the field investigation takes a truly dangerous turn.
