$10 million was raised by President Joe Biden's re-election campaign following last week's State of the Union address.
Biden is raising money, while Donald Trump, his likely opponent in the November election, has spent millions in the contested primaries. The former president's political work also helped cover legal costs related to the four criminal charges against him.
February was the best month for fundraising for the Biden campaign.
Biden's speech, revenues and expenditures
His hour-long speech Thursday attacking Trump and delivering his second-term message to the public marked the unofficial kickoff to the campaign after Trump cleared the way for the GOP nomination in the Super Tuesday primary.
While voters in battleground states see the US economy improving, Biden is trailing Trump in seven states seen as more likely to decide the election results, according to a February Bloomberg News/Morning Consult poll.
In the wake of his State of the Union address, Biden's campaign spent $30 million on statewide battleground ads, including a TV ad mocking his age. The president heads to more battleground states this week with stops planned in New Hampshire, Michigan and Wisconsin.
Party spokesman Adam Schiff said Democrats' main goal should be to “work hard to motivate” young Americans. “I think the top priority should be getting young people out to vote,” the California Democrat said on NBC's “Meet the Press” on Sunday.
