Despite the problems that the Chinese company has faced for years, there were many who were willing to overlook them – or rather get around them through various alternatives – in order to enjoy the great performance of the P series cameras.
The name of Huawei’s family of devices may change this year, with the Pure P giving way to the Pura, but its character remains unchanged. Therefore, the Huawei Pura phone appears for the first time with three devices: the Pura 70, the Pura 70 Pro, and the Pura 70 Ultra, which is the device that we will present to you after we have had the opportunity to try it.
So how well does it work for photography and videography? Is its performance enough to make someone looking for a high-end camera phone overlook all its other flaws and make it their own?
Without going into the features, capabilities and functions of the Pura 70 Ultra, it is clear that it is a highly aesthetic device. First of all, it’s available in three colours, of which the green (which we tested) highlights its sleek design even more – and it’s not the black and brown that hold back, it’s just the soft green that stands out. Moreover, with dimensions of 162.6 x 75. x 8.4 mm and a weight of 226 grams (one of the heaviest in its class), the Pura 70 Ultra does not go unnoticed. The front is dominated by a 6.8-inch display that occupies almost the entire surface thanks to its imperceptible frame. The front camera is at the top and center in a punch-hole style.
Here we will put parentheses to talk about the screen “shield”. The latter is protected by Crystal Armor Kunlun glass, a coating found exclusively on the Pura 70 Ultra as the other two models in the series have “simple” Kunlun glass. This special edition is practically a 2-in-1, since the already durable Kunlun glass is framed with Crystal Armor technology that increases its durability by 300% according to Huawei, making it resistant to everyday scratches (keys, coins, key rings, etc.) but also to drops (on Surface without pebbles or protruding stones) from pocket or table height. Indeed, the Pura 70 Ultra screen is very durable and does not need additional protection.
