Modeled close to a Rolex Submariner or Omega Seamaster watch, the Watch Ultimate features a rotating crown at the top right and two push buttons, one at the top left and one at the bottom right. Available in blue and black, the cases are covered in an “innovative zirconium-based liquid metal material,” which is similar to the LiquidMetal alloy found in many modern Omega watches.
Potential buyers will have a different strap option depending on which face they choose, with those who opt for the more premium blue option getting a titanium alloy strap. The black version comes with a regular length HNBR (elastic) strap as well as a long strap for wearing while diving. This is also the activity that Huawei strongly promotes for the Watch Ultimate, as it indicates that it will last up to 24 hours at a depth of 110 meters, while its normal operation is intended for a depth of up to 100 meters. Huawei has added a number of functions to the software for professional divers, addressing those who want to have a solution that unites two different worlds.
Inside the case is a 1.5-inch LTPO AMOLED display with a resolution of 466 x 466 and a maximum brightness of 1000 nits under a 2.3 mm sapphire crystal. It runs Harmony OS, with the same set of features found in the current Watch GT range, with the only major changes being the China-exclusive golf mode and diving-specific features mentioned above.
Another much talked about feature is the battery life, with Huawei promising up to 14 days of battery life if you don’t use it much. More realistically, you should expect to get close to eight days with normal use.
In addition to working with Strava and Runtastic, there are the usual set of fitness tracking features. They include TruSeen 5.0 heart rate monitoring, TruSleep 3.0 sleep monitoring, and EKG capability as well as continuous SpO2 monitoring. There’s also a new Explore mode, which takes advantage of dual-band GPS to make sure you know where you are, no matter how far down the road you are. Huawei says a full charge takes 60 minutes, while a 0 to 25% charge takes just 10 minutes.
As for pricing, Huawei won’t announce it until April 2, the day before the Watch Ultimate becomes available in the UK and Europe. It is expected in our country at the beginning of April while the only price we know now is the one announced in China and the cost of the original model is about 800 euros.
