The European aviation safety organization, Eurocontrol, has warned that a grumbling move by Polish air traffic controllers could have major repercussions on air traffic in Europe in the near future, with hundreds of flights canceled.
The measure could result in the cancellation of 1,000 daily flights, especially those using Polish airspace, Eurocontrol estimates.
According to the Polish news agency PAP, the dispute relates to the new salary scales that are due to come into effect at the end of 2021. It quoted the Association of European Air Traffic Controllers, which notes that “some Polish colleagues will not be willing. to work in conditions commensurate with the decrease Their current wage is 30%.”
According to the Polish Air Navigation Agency (PANSA), 170 air controllers operating from Warsaw, out of a total of 208, intend to resign at the end of April.
Negotiations are underway between PANSA and the monitors. Discussions will focus on the reassignment of the resigned with somewhat revised salaries.
