Samantha Davies, the activist and wife of Harry Potter star Warwick Davies, who she described as his “soulmate”, has died at the age of 53.
Samantha Davies, who founded Little People UK – a major dwarfism charity – was described by her husband as “the greatest love of his life”.
The couple met on the set of the 1998 fantasy film Willow, where they starred alongside Val Kilmer, although the actor had seen Samantha in another fantasy film and “admired her from afar,” as he put it in his autobiography. The two became a couple, married and had two children, Harrison and Annabelle.
Speaking about his wife, who died on March 24, Davis said: “She was a unique character, always looking on the bright side of life. He had a wicked sense of humor and would always laugh at my bad jokes.”
Their children, Harrison and Annabelle, said: “Mom was our best friend and we were honored that she loved us so much. We will always have the love and happiness he gave us.”
This duo was known for the change they brought about in the way people with dwarfism were represented on small and big screens. They have also worked to raise public awareness of sepsis after Samantha faced it following her surgery in 2019.
The Davis family lost two unborn babies, Lloyd and George. When asked by The Guardian about their loss in 2015, Samantha said: “You have a choice, don't you? Let's use it to make our family stronger and closer. Life for living.”
