Food, fuel and other supplies for stranded astronauts were delivered to the International Space Station (ISS) today by a spacecraft.
According to NASA’s announcement, the unmanned spacecraft “Progress 89” delivered about three tons of supplies.
It is expected to remain attached to the International Space Station for about six months before leaving to re-enter Earth’s atmosphere.

Stranded indefinitely on the International Space Station
The International Space Station (ISS) is currently hosting the seven-member regular Expedition 71 crew and NASA astronauts Sunita Williams and Barry Wilmore, who remain unscheduled on the station due to safety concerns over Boeing’s Starliner capsule preventing their return to Earth.
Boeing’s seven-member Starliner crew and two NASA astronauts are stranded on the International Space Station indefinitely due to technical problems with their vehicle.
Astronauts Barry Wilmore and Sunita Williams have estimated they will stay in space for about 10 days, but they are expected to remain on the ISS for more than two months with no return date set. NASA will make a decision on how and when they will return in late August.
If they cannot return on Starliner, a SpaceX flight will be used, thus extending their stay by several months.
