Chrome 2023 update
Google Chrome is updated frequently with new features and changes, but if there’s one area that definitely needs changing, it’s definitely the design.
Although Chrome for Android has received a major redesign to align with Google’s new design language, Material You, the desktop version has remained relatively unchanged since 2018.
So, with the appropriate title Chrome 2023 updateThe new design brings a taste of Material You to PC. This means more round items, which is a very popular trend right now. Sure, Chrome has had some rounded corners for a while now, but it wasn’t as obvious.
Of course, we don’t have to worry about dramatic changes that might make it difficult for us, because the browser is still exactly the same. Simply put, we will notice more colors in the cursors, bigger right-click menus, a recent dark theme, some premium additions, and so on.
Here are some comparison screenshots of the Chrome browser we’re already running on PC, against the new Chrome in its default dark theme, so we can get a better picture. At the same time, we have highlighted in the images the differences in functionality for faster identification.
As we have seen, it is quite clear that by adding Material You to PC, Google is making the browser more functional. Therefore, these changes along with the new indicators and icons may give us a more refreshing and attractive experience.
Google is also preparing other design tweaks for the new Chrome, but it’s not clear when it will be officially available on Windows 11 and other platforms.
However, if we want, we can activate the new design of the browser with Chrome Flags. Although it is not the official version, we did not notice any crashes.
So, to open the Chrome flags tab, we need to type the following in the address bar:
chrome://flags
Once the tab opens, paste the following into the search field:
refresh 2023
Then we will see the two associated flags where we click maybe. At the first change, the browser will ask us to restart it. It’s a good idea to activate each flag separately rather than all together with one restart.
In case you regret it, we have the possibility to restore it back to its original state and get your previous Chrome back. Just click on “Default”.
